As of 2022, the electric vehicle with the biggest battery is the Lucid Air Dream Edition with a 118kWh usable battery and a an EPA estimated range of 520 miles (837km) power by Lucid Motors. Also above the 100kWh mark are the Lucid Air Grand Touring with 112kWh, the Mercedes EQS 450 with 107.8kWh, and the BMW iX with 105.2kWh of usable battery.
Next on the list is the recently launched Lucid Air with the largest battery ever used in a series production passenger car at 118 kWh (total capacity, we believe). This battery, combined with a very high efficiency of the car, translated into an all-time record EPA range rating of 520 miles (837 km).
The battery system has an energy density of 416 Wh/L (compared to approximately 245 Wh/L of the original pack) and uses a Nickel-Cobalt-Manganese cathode and a graphite anode. The pack added an additional 331 kg in total to the original mass of the battery (and vehicle) while also adding 99.8 kWh of energy.
Credit the sizable battery pack of the Edition 1 pickup we tested in 2022, which made up for the hefty Hummer's hunger for electricity. With a capacity of 205.0 kilowatt-hours, the Hummer EV pickup's big battery stores more than twice the energy of the 300-mile-capable Lucid Air's standard pack.
