A23 is another type of cylindrical battery that offers a greater nominal voltage (12V). These are Dry-cells that are made by combining eight LR932 cells. Only alkaline batteries are manufactured in A23 battery size and are rechargeable and disposable.
They are the Nickel – Metal Hydride Battery and the Lithium – Ion Battery. Of these two, the lithium – ion battery came out to be a game changer and became commercially superior with its high specific energy and energy density figures (150 Wh / kg and 400 Wh / L). There are some other types of Secondary Batteries but the four major types are:
Lithium metal batteries (not to be confused with Li–ion batteries) are a type of primary battery that uses metallic lithium (Li) as the negative electrode and a combination of different materials such as iron disulfide (FeS2) or MnO2 as the positive electrode.
Majority of the primary batteries that are used in domestic applications are single cell type and usually come in cylindrical configuration (although, it is very easy to produce them in different shapes and sizes). Up until the 1970’s, Zinc anode-based batteries were the predominant primary battery types.
These batteries are often used in applications requiring significant power output, such as electric vehicles (EVs), grid energy storage, and industrial machinery. They provide better performance in terms of energy density, allowing for longer run times and reduced weight. What Are Low Voltage Batteries?
Lithium batteries are manufactured as button and coin cell for a specific range of applications (like watches, memory backup, etc.) while larger cylindrical type batteries are also available. The following table shows different types of primary batteries along with their characteristics and applications.

When the battery reaches its full charge cut-off voltage, constant voltage mode takes over, and there is a drop in the charging current. The charging current keeps coming down until it reaches below 0.05C. The battery reaches full charge voltage some time after the CV mode starts (as soon as one of the cells reaches its full charge voltage). At ...
Lithium batteries are rechargeable cells that create an electric current by moving lithium ions between their cathode (negative electrode) and anode (positive electrode). They use lithium-based chemical compounds for the anode, and all except one type use a graphite carbon cathode.
