Perovskite solar cells (PSCs) boast outstanding photoconversion efficiency and a high specific power-to-weight ratio. They are also low-cost in terms of manufacturing. However, their excellent radiation resistance that is making the biggest mark as an alternative for next-generation space PVs.

Perovskite solar cells are a promising alternative to their silicon-based counterparts, owing to their high energy conversion efficiency and low fabrication costs. Although they could reduce the levelised cost of solar energy, their widespread adoption is hindered by the lack of efficient large-area devices.
This makes perovskites interesting for use in multi-junction solar cells: by stacking several perovskite solar cells with different band gaps, the efficiency can be significantly increased and exceed the theoretical maximum of single-junction solar cells.
