We present a review of the structural, physical, and chemical properties of both the bulk and the surface layer of lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) as a positive electrode for Li-ion batteries. Depending on the mode of preparation, different impurities can poison this material.

When the LFP battery is charged, lithium ions migrate from the surface of the lithium iron phosphate crystal to the surface of the crystal. Under the action of the electric field force, it enters the electrolyte, passes through the separator, and then migrates to the surface of the graphite crystal through the electrolyte.
Like any other battery, Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) battery is made of power-generating electrochemical cells to power electrical devices. As shown in Figure 1, the LiFePO4 battery consists of an anode, cathode, separator, electrolyte, and positive and negative current collectors.
