In the first mode, the objective will be to reach a stable thermal output, while in the second mode larger temperature gradients will be targeted under shorter durations of time. This work will help to advance solar energy storage technology.

The project is a large-scale solar energy initiative developed on 10,000 acres of land north of the city of London near Plumwood in Madison County. The project is expected to have a maximum generating capacity of up to 800 MW of clean electricity. It will also include a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) of up to 300 MW.
The project is expected to start construction in 2024 and enter commercial operation in the first quarter of 2025. According to the 2022 Annual Technology Baseline (ATB), solar with co-located energy projects will cost $1,540/kW. Based on this value, FirmoGraphs estimates the project will cost $780 million.
Energy storage will play an important role in integrating renewable energy sources into power grids worldwide. The EU-funded MOST project therefore aims to create a zero-emission solar energy storage system based on all-renewable materials.
Sungrow will deploy more than 1,500 PowerTitan2.0 liquid-cooled energy storage systems for this project. It is expected to start delivery in 2024 and achieve full capacity grid-connected operation in 2025.
