You have the option to power the board via a USB cable or by attaching an external power source to the IN+ and IN- pads on the left-hand side. First, connect the negative terminal of the battery to the B-, pin on the charging protection board. Then, connect the positive terminal of the battery to B+, pin. So, I used one of the inexpensive, widely available charger modules, threw in a few switches and a step-up module. With this set up, I never have to pull the battery out of the holder. I can conveniently charge with a USB cable, and the charger will stop before the battery is damaged from over-charging.
