Battery thermal management systems can ensure that the battery works in the optimal temperature range and ensure the temperature uniformity of the battery cells and modules, high temperature will aggravate the internal side reactions of the battery, affecting the battery life and even triggering thermal runaway [ 20 ].
This paper established a thermal management system for lithium-ion batteries consisting of batteries and cold plates. Tb, max, Δ Tb, max, the pressure drop of the coolant, and the overall thermal performance evaluation index ( OTPEI) were used as evaluation indexes.
An efficient battery thermal management system can control the temperature of the battery module to improve overall performance. In this paper, different kinds of liquid cooling thermal management systems were designed for a battery module consisting of 12 prismatic LiFePO 4 batteries.
Based on our comprehensive review, we have outlined the prospective applications of optimized liquid-cooled Battery Thermal Management Systems (BTMS) in future lithium-ion batteries. This encompasses advancements in cooling liquid selection, system design, and integration of novel materials and technologies.
This study proposes a battery thermal management system based on L-shaped heat pipes coupled with liquid cooling. Experimental and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) numerical simulation studies have been conducted on the performance of the thermal management system.
The effects of structural design and operating parameters on thermal performance are investigated. The performance is optimal when the mass flow rate is 1.2 g/s and the charging rate is below 3C. An efficient battery thermal management system can control the temperature of the battery module to improve overall performance.
